Reducing Our Social Footprint One Outfit At A Time

At SAK we are committed to changing the way business is done in Pakistan's fashion industry. If we could do the right thing while making enough to pay the bills, we could influence our customers and, more importantly, other businesses, to eventually do the same.

We have started by paying our craftsmen (these include people who dye, cut, embellish and stitch your SAK outfits) a percentage of the price of each SAK outfit (ranging from 22-35%) rather than giving them lump sum salaries that hardly ever justify the long hours and blood and sweat they put into fabrication. We’re in business to help our local craftsmen.

While we are doing our best to reduce our social footprint (and subsequently yours when you buy your SAK outfits), it is not enough. We need to find a way to put more money into helping our craftsmen, who are otherwise often exploited in this industry, while keeping sak’s core value of thoughtful design for an effortless lifestyle intact. We are under no pressure to create short-term gain at the expense of long-term responsibility. Instead of extracting value from those at the bottom of the value chain in the fashion industry, and transforming it into wealth for ourselves, we use the wealth SAK creates to reduce our social footprint.

It’s been 3 years since we started our experiment in responsible business, and we are just getting started. And you are a part of this change every time you buy with us.
